Most don't people think of training as fun; it's just something you have to do before you get to the fun stuff.  I teach classes that are FUN and prepare you to be a safe and knowledgeable diver. My training techniques make learning all skills neutrally buoyant easier and more fun than doing skills kneeling on the bottom. You will impress experienced divers with your skills but only you will know the secret--it's super easy! Other instructors will rush you through training and never take the time (about 15-20 minutes) to get your buoyancy under control, then sell you another class to correct your buoyancy problems. I also offer the peak performance buoyancy course but you will only need it if you took your open water training with another instructor.

SCUBA is a fun activity for the entire family and is actually much more affordable than most people believe. Invest in a hobby that promotes fitness and opens your life to a whole new world. If you can afford the latest smart phone you can afford SCUBA.
Exercise your mind and body, enjoy a fun outdoor activity with a surprisingly large group of local divers in a family friendly atmosphere or chose to participate with just friends and family. Either way, you won't have trouble finding someone to dive with locally.
Once you are certified  and have your basic equipment, local diving can be one of the least expensive activities you can enjoy in central PA. Your certification is valid and recognized worldwide for life. Dive local or explore tropical waters on vacation. Of course, I suggest you do both.

When choosing a SCUBA instructor, it is incredibly important to choose one with not only a great variety of experience but one who gained that experience over many years of diving. If you want to know a little more about me you can read about my experience here.

Open Water Diver

Get your scuba diving certification with the Open Water Diver course – Conducted annually in West Palm Beach, FL. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course.

Combine your training with a vacation for the whole family.

$875 plus cost of lodging and travel. Group rates available.

You will be required to own or purchase personal equipment:
(Mask, Fins, Snorkel)
Additional equipment will rented on site by the student.

There is a local option available with training at the Clearfield YMCA and a local quarry. The cost for this training is $800 plus site fees and equipment. This option requires students to purchase their own wetsuit but is the best option if you plan to dive locally. Use of regulator, BCD, tanks, & weights included.

All initial Open Water training is conducted using the NASE program. Only NASE Open Water meets all prerequisites for all other advanced programs I offer.

Adventure Diver

The Adventure Diver course is a subset of the Advanced Open Water Diver Course. Have you always wanted to try digital underwater photography, fish identification or dry suit diving? There’s a long list of scuba adventures you can take part in during this program. Complete three Adventure Dives and you earn the Adventure Diver certification.

Advanced Open Water Diver

Designed to advance your diving, so you can start right after earning your Open Water Diver certification. This course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives.  Cost varies based on options.

Rescue Diver

Learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed. During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature.
SCUBA Rescue Diver Plus is available for those who require additional training in the overall management of an emergency scene.

Master Scuba Diver

The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating.
The requirements for this rating are vastly different depending on the issuing agency. PSS has the least requirements, PADI requirements are what most understand to be a Master Diver, and NASE Master Diver teaches instructor level knowledge and skills.

Divemaster

The Divemaster certification is the first level of professional certification. It requires a great deal of experience, skill, & knowledge. The divemaster leads groups of divers and assists instructors with training.

Assistant Instructor

The PSS Assistant Instructor program allows you to independently teach some classes and prepares you to be an instructor.
